This year we have a children's calendar in our kitchen. It's a weekly calendar; each week features a colourful picture and a poem from a different part of the world. The poem is printed in its original language and a German translation. Our children like it when we read both versions to them. We often feel that a part of the poem gets lost in the translation into German. Sometimes, just listening to the music of the original language helps us to get a better feel for the poem, even if we don't understand every single word of it.
This is why we don't attempt to translate our story of the dream of
horn and zebra.
We are glad that the name of our project means the same in German and in English. There is only one letter to change...
